I’ve driven across the country 5 times and Buck has taken the 3,000 mi trip twice as well…but, sadly, none of those trips were together. In two days, that changes and we head out on a very very very long drive together.
Things I’m not looking forward to: paying for gas, the guilt of a monstrous carbon footprint, pretty much all of Texas.
But there are good things too! It’s awesome to see the country’s landscape change as you tic away the miles. It reminds me just how massive and seemingly endless the beauty of America is….truly surpassed by nowhere else. Then there’s the fact that I’ll get to spend wonderful one-on-one time with my favorite person on the planet. Talk radio and audio books will be enjoyed both liberally and unabashedly. There are large balls of twine to see and roadside diners to visit. And probably best of all, we’ll get to hook our thumbs through the beltloops of our jeans and say cowboy-ish things to our friends about “having to answer the call of the open road”…..can’t wait!
